Solar Heated Pools

 

Solar collectors for your pool heating don't have to be an eyesore. Water pipes are buried in a dark colored concrete sidewalk. As the pool pump is running to clean your pool, some of the pool water is diverted through the pipes. The hot sidewalk is cooled as the pool water becomes warmer. Automatic controllers regulate how warm the water will get.

The tennis court next to this pool is a large solar collector. Coils of pipe were laid under the court surface. The tennis court is cooled as the pool warms up. Temperature sensors and automatic valves control when to transfer the water towards or away from the pool.
